Who you're dealing with
Lambda Brief is operated by Hello World s.r.o., Šoltésovej 720/16, 965 01 Žiar nad Hronom, Slovakia. Company ID (IČO) 52584429, Tax ID (DIČ) 2121073779. "We" and "us" mean that company; "you" means whoever is using the service. By signing in or subscribing to the newsletter, you accept these terms.
What the service does
We watch the release notes, changelogs and blogs of the packages, tools and platforms you tell us you use, summarize what's new, and send you a digest in Slack or by email on the schedule you choose.
We also send a free newsletter twice a week: the same edition to every subscriber, about what's new across popular projects and platforms. It needs no account, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Your account and your connections
You sign in with GitHub, and you connect Slack if you want digests in Slack. When you install our app into a GitHub organisation or a Slack workspace, you're telling us you're allowed to — that the account is yours, or that whoever owns it has authorised you. If that turns out not to be true, we may remove the connection.
GitHub, Slack, npm, PyPI, RubyGems and the sites we read from are not ours. If one of them changes, breaks, rate-limits us or goes away, your digests may be delayed or incomplete, and that isn't something we can be held liable for. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, not ours.
Summaries are written by a machine
This is the part worth reading twice. Every summary in a digest or the newsletter is generated by an AI model. It can be wrong. It can miss something important, misread a breaking change, or describe a release in a way the authors would not recognise.
Use them to decide what deserves your attention, and then read the original release notes before you act — especially for security advisories and breaking changes. Neither is security advice, nor a substitute for the upstream source. Decisions you make about upgrading your software remain yours.
Plans and payment
- Pro is $8 a month, or $80 a year: one developer, unlimited repositories, digests to your inbox.
- Team is $24 a month, or $240 a year, per Slack channel that receives digests. Point as many digests, repositories and teammates at that channel as you like — it counts once. Five such channels means five times the price. Digests to your inbox come at no extra charge.
Every plan starts with a 3-week trial, with no card required. When it ends, your digests keep running for a further 1-week before they pause — so nothing stops the moment the trial does, and we won't charge you by surprise.
Payments are handled by Polar, who act as our merchant of record — they take the payment, issue the invoice and handle the tax. Card details never reach our servers. If a payment fails, Polar retries it and emails you; we keep your plan running while they do, and it only stops once they've given up.
Changing plan, cancelling, refunds
Changing plan mid-period is prorated. Switch plan, or add or remove a Slack channel that receives digests, and Polar works out the difference: you're charged only for what's left of the period, and you're credited when the change makes your bill smaller.
Cancelling isn't. You can cancel at any time, and your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for — but we don't refund a period you've part-used. The trial is there so you can find out whether Lambda Brief is worth paying for before you pay for it.
If you're a consumer in the EU, you have statutory withdrawal rights, and nothing here takes them away. If something has gone wrong with a payment, email us — we'd rather sort it out than argue about it.
We may change our prices. If a change affects what you pay, we'll tell you before it takes effect, and you're free to cancel.
What's in the digest, and what you can do with it
Release notes, changelogs and articles belong to the people who wrote them, and our summaries don't change that. Use your digests inside your team however you like, and share newsletter editions with anyone.
What you can't do is take the service apart or resell it: no scraping our output to build a competing product, no reselling digests, no circumventing the billing rules above, and nothing that attacks or overloads the service.
Availability and support
We work hard to keep Lambda Brief running, but we don't offer an uptime guarantee, and a digest can be late or miss a release. Team plans get priority support, which means we answer you first — not that we promise a fixed response time.
We may suspend or close an account that doesn't pay, abuses the service, or breaks these terms. You can close your account whenever you want, and we'll delete your data — see the privacy policy.
The legal bit
The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for anything that follows from a summary being wrong or a digest arriving late. Where we are liable, our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law — including our own fraud or gross negligence, and the rights you have as a consumer.
Changes and governing law
If we change these terms we'll update the date at the top, and we'll email you before a material change takes effect. Carrying on using Lambda Brief after that means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by Slovak law, and the courts of Slovakia have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, this doesn't deprive you of the protection of the law of the country you live in.
